2025 Medicare Costs: Get Ready for Increased Part B Premiums and Cost-Sharing

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has just announced the 2025 cost-sharing amounts for Original Medicare, calculated under the Social Security Act. Most enrollees will see a slight increase in cost-sharing amounts for Part A and Part B services, so here’s what to expect in the coming year:
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
- Premium-Free for Most: Around 99% of Medicare recipients qualify for premium-free Part A.
- Paid Part A Premiums: If you do need to purchase Part A, your monthly premium will be $285 or $518, depending on your specific situation.
- Inpatient Hospital Costs for 2025:
Deductible per benefit period: $1,676
Daily coinsurance (days 61-90): $419
Daily coinsurance for lifetime reserve days: $838
Skilled Nursing Facility coinsurance (days 21-100): $209.50
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance)
- Monthly Premium: The standard premium will be $185—about $10 more than in 2024.
- Annual Deductible: Set to increase to $257.
- Immunosuppressive Drugs Coverage: For kidney transplant recipients, the monthly premium will be $110.40.
Note: Higher-income enrollees may see adjusted premiums.
